“Tree of Life” Print, 2015

Description

This all Digital Print was designed after two of the greatest illustrators/designers of the 20th century, Alexander Girard and Mary Blair.  The “Tree of Life” is a staple in Mexican American Folk Art and typically includes iconic imagery to tell religious stories. My Tree of life depicts a little girl modeled after my daughter, who symbolizes both the Virgin Mary and Eve. Both the apple closest to her and the serpent further illustrate the reference to the Garden of Eden. The cat is not only my daughters favorite animal but also a reference to Alice and Wonderland and the work of Mary Blair for Disney.
